Deb's Vlog

Episode 37 – Upstairs walk-through

I’m standing on the western balcony at the front of my house and you can see the weatherboard cladding is finished on the exterior wall and inside the balustrade. The v-groove panelling on the soffits is finished and, looking out at the balcony from inside, it’s a lovely continuation of the coastal feel being created in the house.

This decking is an interesting artificial product called Resort Deck. As there’s a sealed floor underneath, the decking is clipped together onto a sturdy frame over the floor and the surface underneath is waterproofed. It looks just like timber decking, and I love that it’s maintenance-free.

Inside, the long steel beam that spans the length of the roof has been clad, giving it a really clean-edged look. The painters will finish this week and the scaffolding will go. The flooring will start and then…. my kitchen! I am so excited for it to start. Freedom Kitchens should be on site to start the install in the last week of May.

As you know, I’ve planned for a stone-clad fireplace from the beginning. It was designed to be a key feature and now that it’s finished, I’m abit awestruck at the scale of it. I absolutely love it.

Out on the back deck, the glass balustrade is finished, ceiling is painted and the decking is being laid over the next week.

I’m pretty darn happy right now!
