Pleasure in the small details – my media room tapwear and door hardware

Deb advice for the day is, “Don’t underestimate how important it is to get the right door hardware.” It’s easy to overlook these lovely ‘accessories’ and let the builder or designer choose along the way but always remember, it’s these smaller details that create the sophisticated finish you’re trying to achieve.

For her media room door, Deb chose the classic Baltimore handle in polished nickel, by Tradco. The polished nickel finish features consistently throughout the house.

However, for the side of the door inside the media room she chose the same Tradco Baltimore handle in matt black to suit the dark details in the room. The devil is in the details everyone, and Deb’s beautiful renovation is all about the details.

Throughout Deb’s renovation, one of the things she had to learn from the start was how important it was to think ahead. Planning the house layout with the architect was one aspect, but the planning had to bear right down to the practicality of how each area was going to be used – what would be required to make life easier and be multi-functional? Deb decided very early on that she wanted to have the option to make a cup of tea and get filtered water without having to go upstairs for it. The media room was the perfect spot.

Deb chose this beautiful “Arc” Zip HydroTap. It’s graceful neck shape suits the classic-contemporary Hamptons style of Deb’s home.
