Introducing the O Initiative

Every single day, nearly one million plastic water bottles end up in Australian landfill. It’s a staggering thought, especially when you think about the cost of it – most bottled water brands charge almost 2000 times the cost of tap water.

Here at Zip Water, we’re passionate about the environment and committed to reducing the amount of plastic that ends up in landfill. This is why we’ve proudly partnered with the O Initiative, which is encouraging people to start using public water fountains.

The founder of the innovative start-up, Gretha Oost has engaged a number of local artists to create different designs for water fountains. With the filtration systems for the fountains supplied by Zip, those having a drink in their local park can be assured that the water quality will be second to none.

“The O Initiative is based on the idea that, through art, we can create a positive association with drinking tap water from public fountains and reduce plastic waste associated with drinking bottled water,” Gretha said.

With innovation in the water industry at the heart of our mission at Zip, we’re happy to be helping Gretha on her mission.

Our CEO, John Doumani has said: “We’re very excited to be involved with The O Initiative and to be helping Gretha to engage the community through design and technology in her efforts to promote drinking filtered tap water.”

If you live in Melbourne and frequent the Hank Marvin Markets at Alma Park, you can fill your water bottle up at one of the fountains! Next up is Noosa and the Mornington Peninsula region.
